St. Luke’s ElderCare was set up by St Like's Hospital in August 1999 for the purpose of providing seamless and integrated downstream services for its clients in the community. Besides social day care and rehabilitation, SLEC is also committed to promoting wellness activities to prepare our seniors fro successful aging. To date, four of our centres are equipped with wellness gyms.
As of 1st April 2009, we have a total of 7 eldercare centres throughout Singapore and situated at HDB estates. They are located at Bukit Timah, Clementi, Hougang Ave 1, Hougang Central, Tampines, Whampoa and Yishun.
In February 2009, the government announced its plan to build 6 new day care centres for the elderly by 2014. SLEC was awarded the contract to build 3 centres in the following districts: Serangoon, Tamoines and Bukit Timah. Construction for Serangoon Centre has began and is expected to be fully operational soon.
As a voluntary welfare organization and since our clients are heavily subsidised, funding is essential and urgent.
